Phew! Driving on a sealed road feels like you're floating on air after 3 weeks of corrugations! What an epic journey Cape York was, next time I might take a private charter plane up, grey nomad style and do Cairns-Thursday Island-The Tip in a day with a stop for lunch at Moreton Telegraph station! (We bumped into a guy who'd just been to The Tip that morning whereas we'd been driving back down for 5 days!). Downside was they couldn't actually land to physically stand on the Tip, because there were people around the landing area, so can they really tick it off the bucket list??

A bit of relaxation is on order I think. We chose Port Douglas to recuperate for a week, unfortunately it was also school holidays so there were many others doing the same! Nevertheless I treated myself ( and James didn't put up much of a fight) to a Snorkelling Cruise to the Agincourt Outer Reef. It was a stunning day on the water, and we even saw a couple of reef sharks up close.

Next was a sunset sail on a luxurious catamaran, with champagne and canapés! Ah bliss!

It's nice to be back in an upmarket area like Port Douglas and Palm Cove, with endless rows of fancy restaurants and bars along the beach. But the outback is calling.. Next destination AlIce Springs!
