Americans are just different, aren't they.
Yesterday afternoon, the previously almost empty hotel welcomed a small group of Americans.
It was during the only sunny interval we have had since arriving here and to celebrate the fact I was having a cat like laze by the pool in the sunshine.

Mrs Yank (who is probably in her 60s) took up a position in the shade.
Fully dressed, after some time she actually got round to removing her knee length stockings.
That was all good, but I did find the intermittent farting a little off putting.
Like all good American women, she has no stop button and conversation is continuous and at that particular pitch which ensures that everyone can hear within a radius of 300 metres.

Daddy Yank on the other hand, is about five foot tall, firmly hidden behind dark glasses, and has only been heard to utter once. For all the world he has come to check up on the family. He looks dark and forbidding with a very godfatherish air.
I must remember to check his trousers for bulges.

The other day I wrote about the Corsican vendetta situation and mentioned about everyone carrying knives. Well, I have to admit I was wrong. Or partly wrong. They do carry knives, but they also carry guns.
The taxi driver told Nick that everyone carries guns, even his father at 92 carries a gun around his belt. They hold onto their roots of being Genoese, and are still incandescent at being given to France as some sort of pay off for a debt. Nice to know.
Anyway, Pappi Yank looks the part, even down to his tinted glasses.

Bearing in mind that there is total cloud cover, it is splishing with rain and there are massive purple cumulo nimbus clouds around promising something special later, the Misses Yanks still appeared at breakfast in sarong covered bikinis.

The older of the two who must be late twenties or even early thirties, clutches a small rather grubby Snoopy cuddly toy under her arm. It is a permanent accessory.
What is the story here?
Why are they here?

As I woke up this morning with my left eye almost completely closed due to a massive swelling around it, which is most attractive, I should think I provided good material for them too...
People watching.
You can't beat it.
