So Bryan's slaving away for me, while I've had ups and downs on the job front. There's not a lot in my industry around Sydney so I decided to be adventurous and try new things...
First I was a door to door saleswoman... I did that for all of two days including the training, before I realised that knocking on peoples doors alone in a strange neighborhood in the dark was not my thing! Most of the people were lovely so I did get a nice insight into ordinary Australian lives. A lot of people here are very friendly and practically invite you in for dinner! Still I just hated wandering around a strange place at night interrupting peoples evening. Also the crowd I was working for basically wanted us to lie through our teeth to make sales
Then I tried on the street fundraising for a charity... I did that for all of three hours! I'm sure it's all in the outlook but honestly I just prefer to work behind the scenes. Most people smile back simply because you smile at them which is nice but saying the same thing over and over again grated on me... "Hi, do you want to talk about the environment?" to which they most often said "no thanks". And the always unsaid "Yah, me neither." My one regret is actually not saying that to someone.
So that said I will just try more new things until I either find something I love or find a "proper" job relating to science...
Saturday's outing was bushwalking towards North Head in Manly. Nice trails though it wasn't really "bushwalking" it was like the parceled city version of a wilderness. That said I enjoyed it except for the empty former artillery school which was a bit creepy...
