Ali forgot to say yesterday but I've had my FIRST CUP OF TEA!(4 in fact!)Not bad for a non tea drinker. It is very weak and sweet here but quite refreshing.
After our last entry we went to the Taj Mahal for the sunset yesterday evening, the place is beautiful a calm oasis in the middle of central India a must if you are in India, we didn't think much of the sunset as we coundn't see it for smog!! Beggars everywhere women with babies are worse, they keep touching you and asking for money - very hard to ignore - but you have to!Fully recommend a guide as without one we wouldn't have been prepared for the onslaught and it would have been VERY frightening.
Today we spent most of the day travelling Agra to Japuir on the way we stopped at another fort at Fatephur Sikri, very hot and dry the Indians abandoned it because of the lack of water! BEWARE of the local guides,we had one it seemed to cost us a fortune, we seem to be a meal ticket here because of the colour of our skin. We even bought a small bit of cloth for the Holy man to bring us luck 300 rupees (just over 4 pounds),probably a weeks wages to them, never mind won't happen again!
Found a very nice Hotel full of travellers called the Umaid Guest House in the LPG just as described if not better, only 750 rupees with air-con for the night!
Just off now for another curry as definately NO sign of Delhi Belly (those who know me will understand!)
CONGRATULATIONS to Lorraine and Glen on the birth of Emily Grace yesterday 6lb 9oz the first of many births due while we are away.Thinking of you all, bet it was the dancing on Saturday Night!!Hurry up with the photos by e-mail!!!
Lots of love,
Lou and Ali xxxxx (My first entry)
