After weeks of injections in both arms and backside, I think we are both nearly there! With conflicting advice from different nurses and the MASTA clinic we have finally settled for 'JUST' - Typhoid, Rabies (£50), Hep A, Hep B (3 shots & a cold), Meningitis A & C and Tetanus. Against advice from one source we have missed out the Japanese B Encephalitis (expensive & 3 inj) and therefore must stay away from pigs in rice fields apparently! Next week the malaria tablets start and I must say, I wish they made a monthly tablet as my racksack is now full up with our 5 months supply and all the other medication/supplies we need. Looks like I wont be taking 15 tops after all.
Good news on the India front - after reading several horror stories about Delhi airport we are now, thanks to Mums Chairman, are being picked up at the airport by Giresh, one of the managers at their Guesthouse in Delhi, where we will be staying which is great news for us and very much appreciated. From here we can vist the Taj in Agra, where we will spend the night so that we can see it at its best at sunrise/sunset. (sorry for repeating myself - just looked at previous log and I had already told you this - I'll try not to duplicate in future!!)
They have also kindly arranged a few other places like Kolkata & one of their Tea Plantations in Darjeeling which will be an experience and also hopefully a little cooler than Delhi. Here's the arrangements:-
Delhi - 6 days touring round the area Fly to Kolkata and stay there a couple of nights Fly to New Jalpaiguri and take trip on the famous Heritage Hillside Steam Train up to Darjeeling and the Tea Plantation where we are staying for 3 nights. (Apparently you get breathtaking views of the Himalayas from the train which travels only 90km in 7.5 hours so you can imagine how slow it is) Fly back to Kolkata for one night before picking up a flight to Goa for our two week relax on the beach and hopefully a few beers.
Well thats about all the news for now, keep you posted and Louise is currently practising her email/internet skills, so you may be hearing from her shortly.
