The people at our hotel very kindly offered to store our large backpacks whilst we was on the boat trip and said we could come and collect them once we got back. We packed Lightly and set off on a coach at around 8am, the journey was about 4 hours including picking up all other guests and a half hour tea break. We got split up into groups and made it to the boat at about 12.30. When we was approaching the boat we was quite worried as it looked a bit different to the brochure we was given
We had lunch whilst cruising through the bay and it was great, there was so much food it was like a little tasting menu. After lunch we went onto a smaller boat and then we kayaked through the Cua Van fishing village; these people live on the water their houses on the rafts. Its crazy to think how they live their lives but they have the most amazing surroundings and they all look so relaxed and happy. The kayaking was cool, it was like having a motor on the back of the Kyak with Sam paddling! On our boat was a large Vietnamese family, when we went to the fishing village they bought about 15 swimmer crabs and a huge groupa fish. They gave it to the chef to cook for their dinner in addition to all the lovely food they were getting already!
We met a lovely couple on the boat, Jacki and Rick from Adelaide, Australia. We have their contact details and they said it would be great if we visited them and it's not to much hassle to go from Melbourne to Adelaide so we are definitely going to take them up on their kind offer!! After dinner Sam tried his hand at some Squid fishing which didn't go too well, all the children from the large family took over and ended up catching a jelly fish
The next day we was up early and headed to the Sung Sot cave. After walking up about a million stairs we made it back down into the cave and it was amazing. It was divided into 3 chambers a small, medium and large part. We got back on the boat and cruised passed Dinh Huong Island, Ga Choi Island, Dog and Sail Island. We had a huge buffet breakfast and then got back to the coach! It was such a great trip and we would recommend it to anyone travelling to Vietnam.
When we arrived back to the hotel they told us that they would be upgrading us for the night; our room is huge and on the balcony is a few fans blowing hot air so I got loads of washing done-result! We have booked our hotel and next train to Ninh Binh we set off at 3pm tody (25th).
