Alex: We only had one night in Talca on our way up north. It was a good base to access the surrounding countryside and vineyards but wasn't very touristy in itself. That said it did it's job and broke up the journey to Santiago for Dean and I and further north for my Mum and Dad.

We will split up for a couple of weeks tomorrow so we can go to Mendoza (Argentinian wine country) and so Mum and Dad can visit the Atacama.
