Alex: After 5 months in Latin America the need for something a little more exotic is bound to kick in and when it does where better to go than Wales? So, that is exactly where we went, well, near enough, Welsh Argentina. The area we have been in was originally occupied by Welsh settlers as you can tell by the names of the towns (Puerto Madryn, Trelew) and there are still a few villages that are more Welsh than the rest so we headed to Gaiman for a spot of tea.

The village is very pretty but a bit too sunny and hot for actual Wales at this time of year. We passed a few kids who we swear were speaking Spanish with a Welsh accent... We sat by the river for a little while as the world floated past us and it was all very idyllic. Dean's day was made when we spotted a Tucan Tour bus (the company we went to Ecuador with 5 years ago and briefly considered doing our trip with before we decided to go independently). Then the important time hit - 15.00 - the tea shops were open. We wandered around to find our shop of choice, which was by the river with the Welsh and Argentinian flags flying outside. There was a selection of 5 cakes and, as this is Argentina, it is a set price all you can eat affair, it also had the best tea I have drunk since Canada...we left a little while later a lot slower and quite a bit fatter. That said, after a little nap to aid digestion, it didn't stop us eating more steak for our tea!

We had one more day in Trelew just relaxing (because this is all so stressful) and waiting for our bus to begin the last, long leg of our journey to the city of Ushuaia in Tierra del Fuego, the most southernly city in the world!
