Alex: We got into Foz do Iguaçu from Sao Paulo at a reasonable time in the morning and after a bit of wandering found a hotel with rooms. After a well needed shower and a bite to eat we waste no more time and caught the bus to see the Brazilian side of the Iguaçu falls.

The Brazilian side gives you more of a distance view of the falls than the Argentinian side but it certainly gives you an impression of how big they are. There is a trail of about a 1 kilometer and you can see different parts of the falls along the whole trail. The guide book says there are about 200 different falls in total, and, anywhere else at least, most of them would be pretty impressive on their own. The most impressive set of falls is the "Devils Throat" which you can peer into from a walkway jutting out into the river at the foot of the falls. Although the view is a little obscured by all the spray that is thrown up you can't help but be impressed by the sheer amount of water and the power of it, you can understand why this river can feed the largest hydroelectric plant in the world. Because the falls are layered the walkway is also at the top of some of the other falls so you look down at the gallons of water rushing to the ground below your feet - pretty cool. There is also a lift taking you to another view point so you get a view of the top of the falls and the huge gash the water is plummeting down.

All in all the falls were very impressive, probably on a par with Niagara, but the Argentinian side & the close up view of the falls is meant to be even better...I can't wait.
