Dean: As soon as we got to Los Mochis, I felt better. I don't know why but I just felt more comfortable. We are only staying one night as we are heading up to a place called Creel on the Mexican Railway - this stretch is slated as being one of the best railway trips in the world. I'm not as worried about our Spanish today either. I'm planning to use a new phrase each day, and as we will be in Latin America for a good six months, I should hopefully be able to hold a conversation by the time we get to Chile! In the mean time we have a phrase book and hand signals! Between the two of us (Alex is currently better at the Spanish that I am) we seem to be communicating ok. I'm sure the Mexicans would disagree!
I felt disapointed with you that your first impressions of Mexico were disapointing, but I'm sure it is because you have had such an exciting time in USA, and you will soon get into the swing of things there in Mexico.
(I got excited -for two seconds- when I read the Las Vegas report!!!, but I'm so glad you had the excitement of winning in the casino!)
:-D
