Dean: Travelled from Edmonton to Jasper, which is one of the Canadian National Parks in the Canadian Rockies. Got the Greyhound here, which was meant to leave at 13:00 but left us all standing in a queue until gone 14:00 - no explanation, no apology - really shit service from Greyhound Canada. Anyway, Jasper is really great. We really like it. The first night (Tuesday) was spent in the hostel, but once again they are full so we spent the Wednesday and Thursday nights in a B&B type place (but without the breakfast!).
On the Wednesday we went to the summit of a local mountain - Whistlers mountain. This involved a cable car to 2270M and then a walk up to the top at 2470M. The views from the top were really good and we went a bit further by walking along the peak. We also met a Marmot (a squirrel like creature but bigger) who posed for photos!
We have decided that the Canadian Rockies are number 1 on our 'favorite places visited' list - they are just so spectacular!!!

More to follow when I get some more money to feed into this damn computer...

Dean: Thursday 6th July - Hiking the trails around Jasper. There are a number of trails around Jasper and we did a bit of a 'mix n match', jumping from one trail to another. We walked along the banks of the Athabasca River, and around a number of beautiful lakes (especially Lake Annette and Lake Edith, which were stunning with their clear green and blue water, lined with forest trees and with the Canadian Rockies as a backdrop). In total we walked between 15-20km, but it was well worth it. In the evening we went for food at a restaurant called 'Evil Daves'. It was really good food. Really good.
