Dean - Only 8 days to go before we head out to Anchorage, Alaska! I've already been off work for one week (I finished on Friday 26th May), Alex finished last Friday (Friday 2nd June).
Still a few things to do before we fly but we should get it all done by the end of the week!
We spent the weekend (3rd-4th June) down at my parents in Weston-Super-Mare, North Somerset - they were kind enough to put on a BBQ for us and all the family came around to say goodbye. It was really good to see everyone before we go away for the year - it will be a bit weird not seeing them for such a long time.
It took me until last Thursday to really realise that I didn't have to go back to work until mid-June 2007 - to start with it just seemed like I was on holiday for a few days! But its starting to sink in now and I'm beginning to get really excited about the trip/adventure. I'm not sure if there will be any more entries in the travelogue until next week but it all starts next Tuesday (Tuesday 13th June). We Fly from Manchester to Gatwick at around 08:00, and then from Gatwick to Dallas, Texas, and then Dallas to Anchorage. That's going to be a long day but it gets us to where we want to start (and I have the lovely knack of being able to fall asleep as soon as I get on a plane, until we land - I think they put something in the air conditioning!!! Alex finds it highly annoying, as it means that she has nobody to talk to for the whole flight!).
Well I'd better get back to the planning and packing...

Have a wonderful adventure!
Hi Dean & Alex.

I like the look of your travel log. It is going to be fun, following you both around the World and reading about your experiences. It will feel as though we are sharing your adventure!

It was lovely seeing you and all the family, over the weekend. Maggie and I had a great time. Wasn't the weather fantastic for us?

Maggie & I hope that everything goes according to plan for you and that you both have the time of your lives!

Keep us all posted. Enjoy!

Best wishes

Bruce & Maggie
