We left Unawatuna at 6am to emabark on a 7.5 hour journy involving 2 crazy buses! The second buses we got was an intercity bus (smaller with air con) from Matara. I saw a sign saying max capcity 18 and after half an hour of picking people up we had closer to 32. With one wee stop in 5.5 hours, migit scale leg room and Sri Lanka's best pot holes it was not a comfortable ride - fun nevertheless! We headed for Ella which is inland and west from Unawatuna in the mountains. We drove past waterfalls and tea plantations to reach a mountain village called Ella. Here we stayed one night and took a walk to a place called little Adam's peak. The view was amazing! We also met a couple in our guest house who are undertaking a similar trip to us. In fact we bumped into them last night in Kandy (26th but more to come on Kandy).
