English - Another week another beach, and something a little less tranquil. We headed north for a change on a train to a beach called Palolem in the South of Goa state. This beach is considered one of the best in Goa and is relatively underdeveloped, though it seams little Kings Cross station after Om Beach. We met up with Pete, Val, Tom and Francheska and stayed for 3 days in anther bamboo hut right on the beach. This place had a bit more going on in terms of beach and night life. One night we watched the sun set and the full moon rise from the rocks at the far end of the beach. Another night we were kept awake all night by a holy festival, banging a drum and throwing powder paint at each other. At 4am I had enough, if you can't beat em, join em. So I did, from a distance of course which is more than can be said for Pete and Val who I found covered in paint staggering along with the crowd, it wasn't long before I was the subject of the paint throwing. As with all the places in Goa we have found there is a certain CHAV appeal - this was demonstrated in true chav style with a tacky wedding on the beach. Picture this - about 15 family members all in matching grey trousers, white short- sleeved shirt un-tucked of course, massive gold rings and Adidas baseball cap for the boys and pink tacky dress for the girls - bride in white of course, with an Indian guy and strong accent singing Wet Wet Wet from 4 Wedddings! Classy or what! Anyway, this didn't spoil our stay as we were staying at the other end of a massive beach with no night life. Last day I went rock jumping (10m) with Thomas into the sea, scary but fun and you need shoes on so you didn't hurt your feet. Next stop - party central Calangute. We have the run of an apartment for free for a couple of weeks, donated by the very generous Jon Errington of Manchetser - cheers mate! And thanks to Paul for sorting out the logistics on that one. More to come!
