Trivandrum

English - another early start (5:30am) train and a couple of hours into the state of Kerela and to a City called Trivandrum. Kerela is an attractive state, bordered by the Arabian Sea on one side and Mountains on the other. It was an important colonial area because of the Spice and tea trade. Trivandrum is big but nicer than other cities we have been to so far, it seams less cluttered and much more inviting. We stayed here for 2 days and spent a little more on accommodation so we could chill out and finally wash our clothes! Our stomachs were also feeling the pressure of life in India so we treated ourselves to a relatively expensive Chinese and a beer at last! While here we took a day trip to a lake/lagoon with a nice park. We hired a kayak for a bit and took a walk along the beach to watch the local fisher men haul in their nets. It has been a very busy week on the trains and this was an extremely welcome rest bite.
