English - Another early start (6am) and this was going to be a very busy period for us, we plan to cover 5 cities and 700 hundred kilometers in less than a week. Traveling in India is slightly harder than in Sri lanka. Not as many people speak English and most of the bus signs are not in english. Therefore we have to rely on local information, you ask 10 different people and get 10 different answers - de jar vu! (how do you spell that?) On our way south to Thanjavur we stopped one night in a grubby little place called Chidambaram and had to change rooms because ours had a flying ant infestation. On the way to Thanjavur on the bus we met some great people from GB who had lots of local knowledge because their family are from Maduari and we arranged to meet up in a few days. Thanjavur is famous for its 1000-year-old rock fort and temple. As with most tourist attractions there were a lot of beggars waiting outside for us which is sometimes difficult but the fort and temple mere amazing. Unlike most in the area they were not painted, more natural and massive. We found a quiet place to sleep under a tree for the afternoon before heading back to the guesthouse for an early night.
