UK Shinanigans!

We started off our London adventure meeting up with Pru (sister) and going for lunch in BrickLane, which is right near where she works. It's a cool little East-end area there, renowned for curries and Jack the Ripper murders...hmm...
We then headed to Oxford (on a double decker bus naturally) to visit Rhiannon's Aunt Oonagh and Uncle Chris for the night. It was perfectly timed as the weather was amazing and Rhiannon's two cousins Siobhan & Eoghan (& brand new second cousin Seren...who is absolutely beautiful) were also there. We had a lovely time and were spoilt to a tour around Oxford by Oonagh on the 2nd day. First stop was Christchurch, which is renowned for being the birthplace of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, having a magnificently old church & housing the 'great hall' used in Harry Potter the film. See photos.
We then went on to explore Oxford university sites and town...with Oonagh giving us a guided tour down to the finest of detail. Sad to say our goodbyes after only one night, we headed back down to London and met up with Ben, Pru, Kate, Paul and friends for dinner/drinks on Brick Lane. I tasted my first London curry! We then went and saw Pru and Paul's place where we were staying in Putney- which is AMAZING! It looks right out onto the Thames and is pretty close to transport etc. We started off the next day (our tourist day) in Camden, which is like Newtown but 10 times to size. We had yet another disaster with the underground getting there- it seems that London is in a continual state of reconstruction and delays! Maybe we're too used to the German way of doing things...? Anyways- Camden was great and I'll have to go back when I am rich and see the markets again- they're huge!
Meeting up with Pru and Ben afterwards in Leicester Square we went on to see all the regular touristy jazz...it was the fastest whirlwind tour of London the world has ever seen! (including the biggest toy shop I've EVER seen, a strawberry beer and a game of soccer in the pub!) Absolutely shattered, we all settled for a quite night of Thai and the movies (16 Blocks) before getting up at 5.30 the next morning for our flight back to Germany. All in all- it just wasn't long enough! *I'd like to thank all our sponsors that made this trip possible- firstly to Oonagh, Chris, Siobhan, Eoghan &Seren and also to Pru, Paul & Ben. We'll be sure to visit again!*

What's the story with Rhiannon's family's names? Why don't they have normal sounding names like Paul, Kanchanaporn, Alif and Vava?
