Back in Karlsruhe, enjoying Rhiannons' place til we begin our jetsetting around Europe (first stop Berlin).
We decided to stay an extra night (tonight) because Rhiannon's flatmates wanted to treat us to a 'proper German welcome'. It was all hush hush leading up to 8pm, which is when we were told to meet everyone in the kitchen. We invited Graham, a fellow uts-er, to join in the fun (maybe also to have him as a little back-up...we weren't quite sure what this bunch of over-excited engineering boys had in mind... : ) So it began- Present: 4 Germans, 3 Aussies, 2 Bulgarians and an Iranian to even things up. Musik: Bulgarian/German heavy metal and pop Lighting: dozens of tea light candles
Activity: Centrepiece of giant fishbowl, recently removed from stove top, filled with 3 bottles of red wine, 6 freshly squeezed oranges, anonymous spices and capped with a metal rod which bisected the fishbowl, on which a cone of sugar was placed, covered in rum and set alight. Ambience: Between a séance and sitting around a campfire making hot choc in Winter. Continued activity: Everyone's glass is repeatedly filled until fishbowl is empty. Wake up next day. I'd like to thank all the boys at Rhiannon's place for making it such a great night and for giving us such a hearty feuer-filled German welcome. xoxo More thumbnails ...
