Billed as the cultural heart of the island, it is essentially a tourist trap. We spent two nights I seem to recall and the highlight was a simply astonishing Balinese 'Becak' (pron. Baychak) dance involving 50 bare chested men. Sitting in 5 concentric circles, facing inwards while they waved there arms in unison and struck incredible rhythm and syncopation with the sound 'cek'. It would take a better man than me to do justice to this spectacle with word alone. Just take our word for it, if you are ever in Ubud and get a chance to see the "cek cek cek" dancers, make sure you do.
