Our 10hr bus ride from Kunming to Hekou was not the best. I can imagine that it probably wont be the worst though.........
It entailed:
A stop at a roadside cafe where maggots inhabit the toilets.
Lots of very windy roads making for some very ill travelers around us.
1 emergency stop......the lorry was bigger than us.
Anyhow, we arrived in the border town after the border had closed for the day late so we found a place to stay for the night.
Our room was the most grubby place we have stayed in to date but it was only for 1 night, after all.....and it only cost us 2 quid each.
We crossed the border on foot the next morning - no more than a 200m walk over a bridge to the Vietnamese border town of Lao Cai.
