So we eventually arrived in China after about 2 days of solid travelling and very little sleep!
We had a well deserved lie in on the first morning as it took us ages to find a hotel that wasnt either full or our of our price range the previous night. That day we just had a nice walk around the centre of the city which is extremely clean (apart from the smog) and under large development due to the Olypics starting in a couple of months. That day in the evening we met up with our group, which on average is a lot older than our Indian group but there are still people our age that are up for doing stuff in the evening! (one guy graduated from notts uni last year)!
The second day in Beijing we went for a day trip to the Great Wall. Its near enough impossible to describe the beauty as it snakes over mountains for as far as you can see! We walked along the wall for about 10 miles ending in a place called Simitai...it really was an experience we will never forget
The third day we went to the Forbidden city - where the Chinese Emporer used to live with his many thousand wives! Only castrated men were allowed in as I think he was wary about some of them running off with the male servants!! We also visited Tiananmen Square which is of historical importance for hundreds of years. In the afternoon w visited the birdnest stadium which is the main stadium and location of the Olympic opening ceremony which was really cool to see.
Thats about it for Beijing! Sorry for the late updates but the Chinese gov. block so many sites (this one included) its just by luck we found a province with less restrictions.

. It was also very tough going, as the condition of the wall is very very bad and it is extremely steep (both going up and down) in many places. We finished by zip lining from the wall across a large river and then had a beer admiring the view!
