Byron Bay, the penultimate location on our trip... Gordon and Lesley took us on a beautiful coastal drive from the Gold Coast down to Byron taking about 2 hours with various stop off's.

The weather was rather windy and this was a taste of things to come over the next few days. Fraser and Hamish came along for the ride too and it was the first time they'd crossed the border into New South Wales.

We stopped off at the Skydive location on our way into Byron so that I could check it all out before booking my spot. It was very cloudy and windy so they only managed to get 1 group out that day.

After a coffee and some goodbyes Gordon and Lesley headed back home and we settled into our hostel. It was really strange after spending over a week in a nice homely environment.

The next day we woke to lots of rain... I rang the Skydive place to book a spot anyway and they said they would put me on the list for the following morning at 6:30am as there would be a better chance of low winds at that time of day. So for the rest of the day we headed to the pub and met up with a guy we met on our Fraser Island trip... it turned into a bit of a drinking sesh so needless to say I was feeling a bit fragile the morning of my skydive.

I was so lucky to be able to jump as just after we left the plane the winds became too high and all the other groups who were waiting got put on hold until the afternoon. It was such a great experience and bizarrely i felt no fear of heights! I even got to fly the parachute on the way down! Would definitely do it again!

The rest of our time at Byron was spent avoiding 'Schoolies' (a massive end of year party where Byron gets flooded with 17-18 year olds who have just finished school) and trying to stay dry out of the rain.

We got 1 great weather day and we did the walk through the nature reserve up to the lighthouse. This was brilliant and the views were stunning, we even saw dolphins just of the coast.

We thought Byron was a beautiful place it was a shame about the weather as most of the activities are outdoor and beach based which isn't practical in the rain.
