Hi Everybody

Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year, we certainly did hear on Ko Phangan.

We arrived on this island on the morning of the 24th at 6am after spending the night on the sleeper train from Surat Thani with the task of finding accommodation on an island with 'no accommodation available'. So after a strong few coffees in a hotel recepion (the only place open at that time) we set off on our mission. We soon found there were infact some rooms available around the Haad Rin area aka Party Beach however they were all very expencive due to peak season!
After an hour of searching we found some bungalows up on the cliffs overlooking the beach... The views were immence but the room was pretty dark and dingy and ofcource several gekos, One who was mahoosive and tailless : S We spent Xmas eve on the beach partying and Xmas day nursing our hangovers watching films and eating rice dishes in a bar nearby! Was a bit of a wierd 1 to say the least!
By our second night here we felt the non stop music and partying was impossible to keep up until NYE and so moved down the road on our rented scooter to a lovely little guest house called My Palace. We stayed here for 2 nights as it was booked up from the 28th - 1st (like everywhere seemed to be at this point) We stumbled across an open air BBQ in Ban Tai on the 2nd night where u had hot coals in the middle of your table. It was a case of all you can eat, help yourself and cook it yourself... We had a FEAST!
We explored the island on our scooter, the roads were dirt tracks full of pot holes and steap hills, it was a bumpy ride for alex on the back! We even had a snake incounter when a big 6ft black one decided to dart across the road infront of us! I was terrified!! This was all well worth it though as we found some beautiful beaches, waterfalls and view points up in the jungle. We also, luckily, managed to find some accomidation for the rest of our stay at Sea Mew guest house (we think they got the translation a bit wrong) in Thong Sala.

NYE was mental. We joined 50,000 people on Haad Rin beach to drink buckets and dance all night, we somehow managed to bump into our 4 mates we met in Phi Phi.. What an amazing night!! wouldn't have liked to do the clean up opperation in the morning though- Carnage!

Next stop Ko Samui

Hi Paula and Alex!!

What fantastic photos!!! So glad you enjoyed your Christmas and new Year.

You have been missed here but we can see that you are having the most wonderful experiences. The party on NYE looks amazing - as are the views from your bungalow!! You both look very well- tanned and relaxed.

Den and I have finished the decorating and the house is looking lovely. Mollie and Dennis are now in Derbyshire with us and both seem quite settleld and relaxed after an initial sniff around!! I'm amazed. They lay in Chase's crate and just settled on the journey down. I had taken two paracetamol in preparation for them crying and yarling all the way down!!!!!!!As it happens, Mollie settled straight away and Den winged justs a few times. I just hope it continues!

It's snowing again down here!! Hope the sun continues to shine brightly over you both.

Much love

dad on

hope you didnt watch the match against leeds and put the curse on us. Also the match tomorrow between united and city has been cancelled because of the snow. The worst snowy weather in flixton today for 30 years. It took 8 hours instead of 5. I had to dig the milk float out 10 times. Hope you are both fine. Love from all of us.

Hi you two!!!

It seems Manchester has more snow than here at the moment!!! Here most of the schools in the area closed during the day except ours - typical!!

Mollie and Den have settled in well. Mollie still unsure about Chase but Den is as laid-back and cool as ever.

Hope you are still having the time of your lives!! Loving the winter weather but wouldn't mind a bit of sun, sea and sand too!

Looking forward to speaking to you on Skype. Stacey ahs it too. You just need to explain to us what we need to do. Webcam at the ready!!!
