Kennedys for the Kings Cup
Within Seville there are two division I futbol (soccer) teams - Real Betis and Sevilla. The rivalry is intense and people take their teams very seriously! To no surprise, the fact that the two teams are facing off 3 times this month has been a very big deal, and the first of the games, the Kings Cup, was last week. We enjoyed the game at a local watering hole, it was insane how packed it was! In accordance to spanish custom everyone was cheering and screaming the entire game - quite an experience! Also made our way to the Museo de Bellas Artes here in Sevilla. A restored convent, the museums collection focuses on Seville school artists and contains masterpieces by Juan de Valdes Leal, Murillo, Zurbaran and others. My favorite piece that I saw there was the Juicio Final (Final Judgement) by Martin De Vos, a stunning representation of biblical symbolism.
Juicio Final, Martin de Vos, 1570
