This week went by pretty quickly - it was pretty quiet at work since people were still on holidays, and I spent most of my time doing measurements instead of synthesis, due to a chemical being unavailable in the lab.

On Thursday after work I met Ioana at a Japanese restaurant opposite the station, where we had some pretty good but very expensive sushi. We had two bottles of water and half a dozen plates of sushi and it was 30+ euros! Afterwards we walked through the rain to the Van Abbemuseum, which is the most renowned (only?) art museum in Eindhoven. Every first Thursday of the month they do a free night entry - which is why we went then. The museum had mostly modern art, most of which was pretty out there. And of course the usual smattering of "outsider art" - crap glued together in such a way as to inspire deep insight. As Ioana said, "what's so special about a collage? We did those in kindergarten!"

Friday night we stayed at home and had a nice meal, slevinken (a dutch thing, like sausages but instead of intestines, they put proscuitto). We also booked all the things for the next few weeks - train tickets and accommodation in Bruges for next weekend, and the hire car for our trip to Luxembourg the weekend after that.
