Well, yesterday was a day of true traveller's experiences!  After getting on the wrong bus in the morning (which was going to the right place and saved me Rs100 over the one I was supposed to get) I checked into a hotel, and when I tried to go out to get cash to pay the bill the guy wouldn't let me leave and tried to throw me out of the hotel for not paying the bill! Eventually I persuaded him to let me go to the ATM, and kept my room for the night!  I then spent half an hour trying to find the right bus to go to a nearby hill station called Panhala.  After trying about 10 buses in 2 different bus stations, one of the bus drivers just pointed me towards a cab, so I gave in and went by cab (well, more like dilapidated land rover).  Of course, cabs here work differently - anyone who's going the same way jumps in when you pass by them.  However, this did mean that I met a father and son who were doing the same tourist thing so we went 'round Panhala together then back to Kolhapur.

Varsha, a relative of Anjali's (my host in Pune) who lives here, invited me for dinner last night, which was so much appreciated, and as ever with Indian food - delicious!  (Knowing people is paying dividends everywhere I go!) Then, on the rickshaw ride home the tyre blew, so we changed it there and then, with just my phone to give light, and the only tool being a small spanner (I acted as the jack, tilting the rickshaw while the driver changed the wheel).  Then it turned out that there was a huge slash in his spare tyre so that was as bad as the one we took off! Nevermind.  I got back safely in the end!

I'm now off to try and find a friend I met yesterday, who's asked me to join him for lunch.  Seems like an interesting chap, so let's see what happens!
