Woke up this morning around 8 AM.  just checking messages/having coffee, about to brush my teeth......WHEN A BIG FECKIN' REDDISH/BROWN SPIDER, ran across my foot and ran up the side of the wall, then it hid among the black curtains of my window to avoid me.!   This was not a harmless little "spidey".   This was one of those "hunter" spiders like the north American "Wolf Spider"...  but it is down here in the tropics,  and therefore more intense..   Some of the spiders down here can seriously kick ones' ass.   And this one looked like a boxer.    So I smacked the hell out of it with my hat, and the damned thing fell to the ground, but  kept on going.  Most humans would have been knocked out cold with my smack.   Not the big red fast spider from hell...   No it ran into what turned out to be it's hiding place...   Behind the in-room gas tank (even scarier than the spider).   The space behind the gas tank was his home.  He/she? had been living here for some time.

So I made my plan.  I needed some BIG artillery...  couldn't find any,  I just moved here.  No bug spray, napalm, golf clubs,  but I did locate a sandal....    I lifted the tank and the freaked out fast-moving spider (from hel), l ran away, not wanting to be killed and all,  and I chased him across the room,  not wanting him to remain in my house,  and I managed to smash him against the wall with a hard sandal.

Big, dead, steaming, spider hull laying shipwrecked on my tile floor...

I felt like shit for doing this to such a fine intelligent creature, merely wanting to extend it's life.

The spider never tried to hurt me, yet I assaulted it with extreme prejudice and finally murdered the poor thing!.  I did this out of fear.   I felt I had no choice since I couldn't just pick the deadly thing up and send it on it's merry way.  I felt horrible for doing this....   I am not the Buddhist I thought I was.

Later this day I found a small millipede crawling up the wall of my bedroom.   I gently picked him up with a piece of card board and gingerly placed him on the out side rail of our staircase.

I saw the millipede two hours later on the side of an outdoor wall still enjoying life...

Life is cheap here...

I could never be a Buddhist, because roaches scare the crap out of me. I think you can be excused for wanting to kill a large, potentially dangerous spider.
