Where I stayed

Yeah,      I've hit rock bottom.     I'm now a cigarette dipper.      Not much better than a "Melon picker"  but still better than a boot licker...or lawyer.   No snuff or snus here in the Middle Kingdom,  but plenty of spitters.   Chinese are well versed in the arts of spitting,   and hocking the loogie.   I hear it every day.   The old grannies can organize,  clear lungs and nasal canals,   and project the loogie better than any middle school-er wannabe in America.         Just another reason why i love and respect the Chinese culture.

Been hanging with Takashi, Lindsey,  and  Oxanna  every day this week,   along with an ever-changing list of travelers.   Today we went shopping and had lunch with two silly girls from Fujian province.   Takashi speaks a little Chinese as does Oxanna.    The Fujian girls haggled for a sim card for me and kept the store from ripping me off.     Takashi seems to like Oxanna but she is older and wiser than he.   She is very quiet and smart. Works for "Credit Immobileir" or something.  I can talk a bit of French when compelled or motivated.      Lindsey is a wonderful all-American gal with a Masters in Anthropology.  She is also seeking a teaching job' which she will get soon.   Many Chinese schools are biased against black Americans,   but I know that her great attitude,  credentials,  and superior intellect and love of teaching will serve her well.
I love talking to her she seems to be able to know quite a bit about any subject. I am keeping her email since I rarely meet people of her caliber. I like her but she's too young for me. She also prefers large Scandinavian guys!   Tonite I went out with her and a large young British guy from York who was himself an excellent conversationalist. I hope Lindsey has luck with him.  I felt like the chaperon,  and probably was!

These are my main homies,   but at a travelers place people seem to come and go quite often.   Nice to have a fleeting group of friends,  every day is a new adventure here.

Enjoy the pics,   I personally walked or took a short boat ride to all of these places,  I hope you can see why this part of a city of 8 million (I thought it was 5 but I was mistaken) is so special to me.    Day or night you are quite safe here.

"Livin' on the road my friend, is enough to make you free and clean."    (Townes Van Zandt))
