Tubing injuries:
- left knee: bruised and swollen, resulting in extreme pain when bending it
- left hip: hideously bruised and scratched
- left hand: small cut to palm
- right leg: large graze below the knee
- right foot, sole: deep and painful cut a few inches below the big toe
- back: large graze below the right shoulder
- various other minor scrapes and bruises

Rocks are not my friend!

In the morning Susan left for Vientiane, so Mark moved into my room. We were neither of us in any fit state for tubing, so we decided to be lazy bastards. We went to the Friends cafe, as usual, for breakfast: another Full English, as had become culture-shunningly traditional. After this we sat watching Friends episodes for a couple of hours, then went on the internet for a bit. We then headed back to the guesthouse, had showers, got changed, then went back out again. Around 7pm we ate dinner at, you guessed it, the same cafe, then watched yet more Friends episodes for about four hours until the place closed. In effect, we had achieved nothing, yet felt profoundly satisfied with our day's work. However, we did ponder whether, in years to come, one of the waitresses might one day be found hanging to the sound of The Rembrandts' "I'll Be There For You," accompanied by a brief suicide note, stating simply: "I can't take it any more!" I bloody love Friends.
