Parade of Monks
Today, we had a fun day! We began with another breakfast outside with fresh fruit drinks, as we watched a parade of monks and a band ushering in blessing for the new year. Then we hopped into a song-tow (a taxi) for about and hour ride to the elephant farm. Here we enjoyed an elephant show. We watched them play soccer, paint, dance, play harmonicas, and show-off their brute strength. Then we rode the elephants through the jungle, up and down the hills for a grand experience.
AK Team with Elephants
After our ride, we fed the elephants sugar cane and bananas, and snapped close-up photos. Then it was off for a short walk to the nursery where we petted the cute baby elephant. He may have been only a baby, but he stood about waist-high to us, and weighed several hundred pounds! We made sure to not be stepped on!After we left the elephant farm, we stopped at the Xtreme Sports Center.
Jungle Buggies
Here we enjoyed over and hour ride on dune-buggey go-carts through a trail in the jungle, We also had the opportunity to bungee-jump about 100 feet, but we passed on that one. Write & Evelyn Dee
Then in the evening we joined Write & Evelyn Dee for the celebration of their 48th wedding aniversary. We had a yummy meal, met several friends and relatives, and enjoyed songs and stories for several hours. Pastor Jack was asked to sing his country songs, and he also prayed for the guests of honor. Evelyn (who has an incredible voice) sang while accompanied on guitar by her son, Joe. Then Tim, another son, played guitar and sang a song he had written. Mark, another son, shared an experience of how he and his wife, May, had come to truly trust in God. We even purchased some Karen hand-crafted items to bring back with us from a weaver who attended the celebration.
