In April of last year my wife and I started praying about going on a trip to Thailand with Partners. I thought that in a year or two that we would eventually go on this trip. So one Sunday we were going to a meeting to learn more about what was going to be involved in the trip and on the way my wife told me that, by the way, we are committed to going and, by the way, you need to have this paper work filled out by the time we get there. So I took this as a way of God telling me that we were supposed to be a part of the team that was going this year.
While the whole trip was a great experience, probably the one thing that left an impression on me the most was Pastor Edmond's village. Here we were able to have VBS programs with the children of the village. The second day we spent with the younger children and even though we could not talk back and forth we were still able to enjoy each other through an interpreter. It was quite an experience to see 200 children so eager to learn about God. Once we were done with our program we spent time with them playing games and enjoying each other's company. I think that everyone had a least 10 kids wanting them to hold their hand, or throw them in the air, play catch, spin them around, or play tug of war with them that afternoon. Just getting to be able to show those kids that we care about them and that we love them was amazing. I think we all wished that we would have been able to spend more time here, but that will have to be NEXT TIME.
On this trip God opened my eyes to the situation that the Karen people have to face daily and the love that they have for people is like no other. God definitely is a big part of the Karen people and you can see it in their life. Thanks for all of your prayers.
