Our 4-hour flight from Taipei, Taiwan to Bangkok, Thailand was filled with more movies, meals, books, naps, and chats. We landed to HOT weather and beautiful blue sunny skies. Several of us were actually wearing our sun-glasses on the airplane just to look out of the windows.
We cleared immigration, had our passports stamped, and were off to locate all of our baggage.
During our 3-hour layover, we enoyed our first Thai meal in a small restaurant, and then topped it off with some gellato (Italian ice-cream) for dessert. Then it was off to our departure gate for our final flight.
Guardian Statue in Bangkok Airport
The airport was enormous and modern. The long, wide hallways were lined with colorful shops and giant Siam statues.
Guardian Statue2 in Bangkok Airport
From the huge window we could view beautiful green foliage and flowers in the gardens just outside. That was quite a sight for us after leaving snow! We cleared immigration, had our passports stamped, and were off to locate all of our baggage.
Luggage Collection in Bangkok
It was here that we discovered that five of our bags had not been shipped all the way to Bangkok, but only to Taipei.
Alaska Team with Luggage in Bangkok
A helpful baggage-claim associate was able to make a quick phone call to get our bags re-directed to meet us in Chiang Mai. During our 3-hour layover, we enoyed our first Thai meal in a small restaurant, and then topped it off with some gellato (Italian ice-cream) for dessert. Then it was off to our departure gate for our final flight.
