Planning away!!
Entry 1 of 1 | show all | print this entry |
Well, I am busy planning for our Gatlinburg / Pigeon Forge trip this Labor day weekend. It's hard to believe that it will be 5 years since my dh & I have been married. This will be our first vacation without the kids since our honeymoon, and I am looking forward to just being Nick & Tina again for a little while, instead of Mom & Dad (and all the other titles that come along with that: chauffer, cook, maid, waitress...you get the idea) Of course, in all my planning, I've also been stressing out a lot too....I want this weekend to be as close to perfect as possible, however we don't have unlimited fund either, so trying to find the perfect budget cabin and perfect budget activities is proving a bit harder than I imagined. I have found a GREAT cabin that is actually around the same price as what we'd be paying for a hotel in Gatlinburg that weekend. But I'm concerned that we'll miss being on the strip and in the action in downtown Gatlinburg, or that my dh will want to do nothing but sit in front of the TV all day and never leave the cabin! Hopefully we'll have the $180 for the deposit next week so I can quit debating it in my head and at least have that part of the trip planned! So far our list of activities is looking like the following:
Ripley's Aquarium Dinner at Smokey Mountain Brewery & Restaurant A visit to the Old Mill in Pigeon Forge A drive out to Cade's Cove Shopping in Gatlinburg and Pigeon forge (of course!) and *possibly* one day at Dollywood. (My dh doesn't really want to go, but I have a free ticket coming in the mail, so maybe once that arrives and he realizes that it won't be SO expensive, he'll cave)
And then of course hanging out at the cabin, enjoying the moutain views, the hot tub and jucuzzi and each other's company!
I'll post more once I get some other things set in stone and have a better idea of where we're going to stay and what else we'll be doing!
