Every city needs a great park and Vancouver's Stanley Park fits the that bill. At 1000 acres, which means nowt to me, I'll just say it is big, almost big enough to get lost in. I said almost.

Hitting the beach first on the run up to the park there was surprisingly no one in the water on this already wet day but not stopping a few dogs taking a dip having escaped their owners among the myriad of walkers and cyclists on the park's perimeter sea wall path. I ended up beating the same track following it around the park until being obstructed due to closure for safety reasons oddly so took a detour through the forested interior.

Thinking I really had strayed off the beaten path I came across the 'Lost Lagoon' before reaching a set of totem poles grouped together, a reminder of this areas earlier inhabitants or first nations as they are called here. Having reached my rainy day saturation point I turned to head back passing a statue of a girl in a wetsuit on the way which I felt I could do with just now (the wetsuit that is).

Although seeing practically none of the nominated films this year I decided to watch a bit of the Oscars even if just for the 'Oh, I've been there' hell of it, finding the little TV room quickly turning into standing room only with bodies covering every available space on the floor as well. With rapid bets before each winner we had a good laugh at it all, including the strange amount of Jack Nicholson camera attention.
