Thankfully it was a very comfortable full size coach with only 3 of us on it, un-thankfully though it was still pouring down in Rotorua. Guess New Zealand's summer has a lot in common with back home.
Rotorua is the kind of place that on approach you wonder if the guy next to you just floated an air biscuit. It stinks. But it does have a good reason for this though being built around a and active geothermal area with stream vents popping up everywhere releasing the rotten egg smell.
It is also home to a large proportion of Maori evident not just from the people but from the street names making finding the hostel a bit more fun.
Not venturing to far in the wet I did check out the thermal park in the centre of town full of bubbling boiling mud and a steaming lake supposedly meant to resemble hell on earth but guessing these people have never been in a Chinese bus station toilet. Similar smell though.
