One of New Zealand's oddities seems to be the infrequency of it's buses given the number of people traveling by them. The bus to Taupo was not due to depart till 3:30pm which combined with the noise of the rain bouncing off the window saw little hurry to climb out from under the covers.

Dan had decided to stay another few days here and so spent the morning doing some odd jobs around the place to earn a free nights stay while I headed out to check out the town.

With little more than a petrol station making up the town there really was not a lot to amuse yourself with making the wait for the bus seem all the longer. The weather had improved ever so slightly though with just being able to glimpse the volcano's cones through the cloud yet still not that much better to walk in.

Hearing the bus had a puncture added another hour to the wait although it would make little difference with the weather not changing all the way to Taupo.

Taking another YHA option here I stood at the reception with water dripping from every place possible while the chirpy check-in guy went on to explain about the outdoor hot tub.
