Being very well fed, taken on a personal tour of the area, given a great place to stay and excellent company it never really feels that simply saying thank you is enough as you hop on another bus.
So Townsville, the kinda place that once you've stepped off the bus you immediately want to chase after it down the street shouting that you've been left behind.
Hard to get enthusiastic about a place that even its founders must have been so non-plussed by it they couldn't even be arsed to give it an imaginative name.
Stepping out of the generic hostel I took a walk along the strand looking over to Magnetic Island which was the reason why I was here but not until tomorrow as I struggled to fill the day
One thing Townsville does seem to have though is mozzies which by the time I returned to the hostel I was surprised there was any flesh left on my feet after feeling like being attacked by the kind of critters that could strip a whole cow in minutes.
Max a German guy working here was feeling the same un-spectacularness (why isn't that a word) of Townsville as I joined him in watching some Family Guy on his portable DVD player wasting time but feeling like it was the most worthwhile thing I'd done all day.

Magnetic Island
. The Reef HQ a large aquarium with a virtual coral reef was a possibility but I was holding off to see it up close and personal on the Great Barrier Reef itself. One thing Townsville does seem to have though is mozzies which by the time I returned to the hostel I was surprised there was any flesh left on my feet after feeling like being attacked by the kind of critters that could strip a whole cow in minutes.
