An early rise and a quick round of bacon sarnies later saw us packed and traveling back south down 75 mile beach only to hit Eli Creek at high tide (nobody would listen to me) meaning a 2 hour wait before we could continue.

After testing the water height we finally ploughed through but way behind schedule now as we pulled up at the start of the 2.5km walking track to Lake Wabby with only around 45 minutes to spare we reckoned. The other team arrived too with most deciding not to both expect 3 of us, Andy, Dave (team 2) and myself setting off towards the lake ditching the flip flops along the way - months of wearing them still hasn't taught me how to run in the flappy things.

Crossing a large expanse of sand dunes (very cool) bare foot under the baking sun we arrived at the tea tree lake full of catfish for a few evidence 'made it' photos before having to run back. Exhausted from running up and down dunes the pace slowed and the heat beneath our feet increased as we felt the sand burning with no shade to stop in and which only getting hotter if you slowed down.

"Hot! Ow! Hot! Ow! Hot! Ow! Hot! Ow! Hot! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow! Ow!"

Finally back at the jeeps with slightly reddened feet there was another quick ice-cream stop before we raced back down the inland track towards the boat all with the girls trying to finish off the cheap wine (called goon here for some reason) in the back with most of it spilling over people rather than in them along the bumpy road. Reaching the boat with a little time to spare we all spilled out the back smelling like a bunch of wineos.

Back in Hervey Bay we had a another good cook out with the remaining food after emptying sand from every nook and cranny of our gear, the jeep and ourselves.
