A Singapore Sling from the long bar in Raffles Hotel is like a necessity for tourists here, I think they probably have a law here forcing everyone with a foreign passport to fork over the $16 dollars for the thing before they'll let them leave.
Fighting the system I gave Raffles a miss and continued my rebellious ways by testing out the other odd law here making it illegal to not flush the toilet expecting a crack Singaporean SWAT team to come bursting in kicking down the cubicle door and abseiling in through the window machine guns and toilet duck in hand. Needless to say the truth was not quite as exciting so flushing and leaving I went for my final meal on this continent of culinary delights going for some Laksa, a curry based noodle dish, while being offered to be bought a huge ice floss desert thing by a friendly local who had plonked himself down opposite me with one for himself. The generosity of these people continues to the end.
Returning to Singapore Airport after 7 months I knew what to expect this time around with it almost being a highlight of the city with more than enough to entertain any weary traveler till their flight departs even if it is half an hour late. With a finally farewell to Asia the plane was soon airborne with the typically great Singapore Airlines meal interrupted just as they were getting to my row with some bad turbulence which did at least give some amazing sights of a thunderstorm lighting up the night time clouds below us as I approached the coast of a whole new continent and country. Australia.
