Changed to a hostel round the corner this morning with last nights hotel seemingly having bed bugs the size of badgers giving the state of my legs in the morning, was almost sure I could see teeth marks.

Feeling like I should have a big breakfast to replace some of the lost flesh that had been chomped away I plumped for a busy dim sum place filled with locals which I took to being a good sign. With the women pushing the trolley carts around speaking little English it led to me nodding in acceptance to almost everything they pointed at replacing my lost body weight quicker than expected.

Waddling out the door surely a few pounds heavier I went to try and walk it off taking a gander around Chinatown, the local Kapitan Kling Mosque then checking out the remains of the old British fort here complete with a cannon meant to grant fertility wishes to women placing flowers in it's barrel. What ever works I guess.

From one culture to the next I took a stroll through Little India which felt exactly that, as if every person in India had been crammed into the few narrow back streets with Hindi music coming from every shop front along the street stall lined streets selling Indian sweets and all colorfully decorated for the Hindu Deepavali Festival or "Festival of Lights".

Eating almost exclusively local/native food on the trip there are times when should stop and ask yourself if such a move is wise in such cases as:

1. You are told it is a local delicacy but no one else has heard of it.

2. It costs half the price or twice as much as anything else on offer.

3. The locals start whispering and pointing when you order it.

Thankfully my choice of dinner came complete with a friendly local guy inviting me to sit with him as he filled me in on Penang's many street hawker choices which according to him simply boiled down to Indian = cheap, Chinese = expensive. He was Indian.
