The sun is quickly setting on my time in the land were it rises but with no real plans for my final day in the country I was open to suggestions about where I should spend my remaining Yen. On recommendation of the aquarium, which I would not normally have placed high on my 'to see' list but thought I might make an exception in this instance due to it containing a whale shark, I headed off on foot towards Osaka's bay area.

That whole on foot part may not have been the best idea given the eventual distance from the hotel to the bay (in other words I turned back before ever reaching it) but it did allow to wander through some of Osaka's less visited areas. Walking through Osaka's more industrial and dock area gave me a view of a side to the city far removed from that of Tokyo or other Japanese cities I'd been to with pretty run down buildings and whole shanty towns of homeless congregating in any slightly out of the way spot along the way.

Continuing the noted Japanese enthusiasm for most things American I stopped for a break and watched some Baseball practice unaware of how popular the sport was here until I arrived with only a stereotypical image of Sumo wrestling being Japan's main sporting entertainment.

After a little more walking, and being stopped by a rather frantic women wanting me to translate a mobile phone text message she had received in English, my feet decided that they had done enough miles for the day. I ambled back to the hotel in the most direct route I thought I could take without my map at hand where I finally booked somewhere to stay tomorrow night in Hong Kong - never like to rush these things.
