MeaSot - a border village that is famous for its dealing in gemstones, which means every traditional trade nation in the world seems to be represented here, Arabs, Afgans, Burmese, Chinese, Thai, Cambodians etc. It makes for a very colorful place as far as strange faces go.
The town is also know for all the refugee camps in the area, they seem to be dotted everywhere. Lots of huts all built on top of one another in areas just outside the main town, mostly Burmese fleeing the government. All in all it is a pretty weird town and I will not be staying any longer than I have to. Along with the refugee camps come the volunteers, they are also a breed of their own, as if signing Jesus songs to a bunch of hungry people is going to do much for their nutrition. Anyway I am going to do some volunteering at some stage but a three month commitment is too much at this stage of the travels.

Border Crossing - 'Did you enjoy you stay in Burma' said the Thai immigration office as he checked me back into Thailand for 30 more days, he was the same one that two minutes earlier said 'I hope you enjoyed your stay in Thailand we hope to see you again soon', he found it very funny and he must do it to all the tourists that need to extend their Thai visa's. Just for the unknowing you can stay in Thailand for 30 days and be issues a visa on arrival, but every 30 days you have to leave the country and then come back, it is a way of the Thai government raising revenue as it costs 500 baht (about 10 USD). It is all a very quick process and just involves setting your feet in one of the neighboring countries for a few second. Just a bit of a hassle really.

Anyway not much more to say about this town except 'Goodbye' as I am leaving tomorrow for a town I can't remember but it is East.
