Our taxi driver from the airport offered to drive us around the ruins, so we drove around in minivan luxury! We're very impressed with Angkor, there are motels and related businesses everywhere, yet somehow they've managed not to make the whole place seedy and tacky. The ruins are amazing, we spent the first day looking at some lesser known sites, and ended at Angkor Wat for sunset. We stalked some monks, they look so good in photos! and checked out the "Tombraider" site. on the 2nd day we started at 5.30 to get to a lake to watch the sun come up ... not happy in the mornings, we had some kids trying to sell us coffee and postcards and one of them asked if I was friendly, obviously I said no, after all I'm never friendly at 5.30am, but everyone else thought it was hilarious. We went to a buffet tourist trap that had traditional dancing, which was pretty cool. For lunch we tried out the Amok with fish ... mmmm. sooooo good. Then on the afternoon of the 2nd day we went on a boat around the floating villages on a big lake. Very cool. Seems to be pretty unspoilt, even with all the tourists everywhere.
