So after having several days of beautiful sunshine and spending all the time on the bus travelling south we finally got to Helsinki where there was something to see. And what happens? Yep, that's right - it pours down rain. We got caught out in this massive thunderstorm where half the streets had massive amounts of water flowing down them and the cars were driving through massive puddles of water. Oh well, such is life. It was actually quite funny.

So we went to the Sibelius Monument which is a series of steel pipes all welded together. It was pretty weird but I liked it anyway. Then we went to the Dome cathedral. This was very cool as it was this massive structure that stood imposingly above a square. It was a very impressive church. Inside was quite plain compared to a lot of churches I have seen in the past but it was still nice. Then we went to the main town square where the downpour started. From there we went to the Russian church but by the time we got there it was closed. Still, it was very impressive from the outside. After this we decided to find some shops to go into and dry off and ended up at the Aussie bar of all places that night.

The next morning we caught the ferry to Tallinn. I would really like to go back to Helsinki at some stage and see the city when there is less rain. There does seem to be a bit happening there and it would be nice to see a bit more of the Finnish culture.
