Hi Everyone:

Sorry the system was down yesterday. Wed was very special as we stayed with my friend Luca at his home in the Valdarno area, just east of where we stayed at Greve in Chianti. We spent the afternoon with his partner and him and the went for a tour of his town, Figline Valdarno. Mary then cooked one of the great meals of my life, which we will discuss when we get home, but the best Lasagne I ever had was part of it. We slept at his house and then drove the next day to La Spezia where we spent the next 2 days including today visiting the five towns of Cinque Terre. It is all very beautiful. Google Cinque Terre for some previews, although Laura took hundreds of pictures, and our next album will be great. To:Mark and Kathy, we were going to do a bit of hiking, but the trails were closed due to rain storms the previous few days. We had exceptionally nice weather, however. We ate at La Barretto right near the hotel you stayed in Vernazza. We'll tell you about

Tomorrow we leave for Lidia's house in Chiesina which is about 1.5 hrs from here and about half hour west of Florence. She is having a party in our honor and cooking dinner. We stay there overnight and then Sunday are driving to Civita Banoreggio a lovely town whish has next to it one of the smallest and lovliest hill towns I have ever been to. Population, accoding to Rick Steves, 2 (not a mistake, two). We will have lunch in that town and dinner back in Banoreggio. Then Monday we will drive to Orvieto which is about 10 minutes from the hotel and drop off the car, and train to Rome. We will return home on Tues. This may be the last entry for a while.
