We took a brief trip to a Lighthouse and on the way back saw my first wild kangaroo by the side of the road. Although Paul said it wasn't a kangaroo but a similar species I can't remember the name of, spoilsport. In the evening we went out for a meal to a local bar, and had a couple of drinks before retiring to our Bungalow for a movie
The next day we did the Ocean Rd proper, seeing the 12 Apostles, London Bridge (not the real one) and doing a Treetop walk in Otway, we didn't get back to Melbourne until about 7:30 but we all had a good time.
On the Monday I spent the day preparing for the journey the following day, as I was beginning my travel back to Sydney. I cleaned and waxed the car (early ownership pride, probably the only time I'll do it), and got all my camping gear sorted out. In the morning I set off about 11, and had decided on the Ocean Rd rather than the quick rd. After a while I regretted this as I wanted to do the whole trip in one go (just to say I'd done it), but it was about 14 hours driving so it would have been 1-2am when I arrived. I stopped for petrol and asked directions and the staff looked very concerned and told me to watch out for wildlife if I wanted to go all the way to Sydney at night. So I decided to stay over for the night in a place called Merimbula, which was very quiet and dull, especially at night, but it did have a youth hostel.
I set off again early in the morning and got to Sydney about 2pm, the mission in Sydney is to either find work I'll enjoy, or find people to share a car with and head north sharpish. Find out how that goes in the next bit.
