We woke up pretty late, around 11. We have no plans really other than lying around anyway. There's a shitload of activities to do here, all the usual stuff, kayaking, go karting, island hopping etc but it's all so stupidly overpriced for all the package people. We are happy to relax and do activities elsewhere. We have moved on day after day now for 9 consecutive days the longest period during our trip, I think.
We moved further up the beach than yesterday as Charlotte wanted to find an area of sea without seaweed. We found it but the seaweed was merely replaced with hundreds of boats constantly docking. After Charlotte went to get lunch we moved further up the beach still and settled there for the day. The weather is good, not too hot but blue skies, although the threat of rain is ever present.
We left the beach around 4pm and decided to pick up some Boracay rum, basically a cheap bottle of malibu, and by cheap I mean £1.50. I had a couple of drinks whilst we got ready to go out, it's nice, the bottle claims it's 50% but I can't help but feel that's bollocks. In Sabang I was drinking it straight and as much as I'd like to claim I'm some hard spirit drinker it clearly isn't true.
We are at a bit of a loss as to where to go to next. One of the reasons Laos etc is popular is that travelling there is pretty straightforward, the places pick themselves for the most part and they follow a basic sensible route. The Philippines on the other hand looks like someone had a curry then took a shit next to Malaysia. In short it's not as easy. This whole paragraph is simply to explain that we spent a while figuring out our next destination/s and how to get there.
Sunset looks amazing. Boracay is great, best beach resort place? Possibly, depends on the nightlife....
When the sun goes down the fringe of the beach fills with bit gazebos that do all you can eat buffets, they aren't particularly cheap but they beat the every other option. We picked a place that had not just seafood. It was ribs, chicken, crab and all that, it all had a distinctive taste, like a school canteen aftertaste. I know what I mean.
We walked up the beach and had a beer in a cool well lit place on the beach complete with acoustic guitarist as standard. From here we walked a little further up the road and went to a trendy cocktail bar that overlooked the front from above. All the beachfront places are obsessed with live music and not just acoustic couples there's full hair metal bands and pop groups doing Lady Gaga and shit. The best thing is as terrible as that sounds they are actually pretty fucking good, the standard of musicians and singers here is pretty damn high.
We finished the night towards the end of the busy area of the beach at what must be the fanciest and probably newest bar on the front, Epic bar... that was its name. The only thing of note here other than the hike in beer cost was there were 3 Russian girls on the dancefloor all dancing like the craziest coked up strippers I've ever seen. It was laughable, espeically with no one else on the dancefloor and about 15 guys just sat in a circle around the dancefloor watching them.
It was 1am, we weren't particularly drunk but we figured there wasn't much left to do and perhaps save ourselves for the bar crawl tomorrow, health wise and money wise.
