Where I stayed
I'd left a note for reception to order us a taxi in the morning at 11. Taxi got us to the bus station and as we got out of the taxi some bloke came rushing over to inform us a coach was going at 11:30, we half agreed to get on when another guy came over saying his coach was leaving at the same time and it was newer. They sort of jostled for position around us whilst we tried to sort out our bags and pay the taxi driver, very irritating. They both had the same price so we chose the newer one, if the guy with the shit coach had been sensible he would have knocked off a quid or two, he didn't so fuck him.
The bus was fine I guess they all have alot of legroom and reclining chairs so its good enough, plus no loud music. We sat where we wanted at first but then when the bus filled up as we went along we got shifted by a couple so we went to sit in our designated seats which had a single woman in it. We showed her our tickets but she just sat there refusing to move until someone 'official' shifted her, utter utter utter utter utter cunt, I'm not one to throw generalisations around willy nilly but everyone from Malaysia is a fucking piece of shit, except for the 4 or so people we have met that have been nice.
Stopped at some 'services' (concrete building with hawkers everywhere) after 3 hours or so and bought some risky meat on sticks, the common ones are fish balls and a sort of hot dog sausage, so I went for them. I'm playing Russian roulette on a 4 hour bus with no toilet. I honestly must have said to Charlotte, "I think I may have shit myself" at least 7 times since we have been away and genuinely meant it, she said she has never ever said that. Eat more spicy food then.
Arrived in Sibu at around 7. We had a decision we could either find a hotel and continue the 7 hour journey to Miri tomorrow or get some food here and get back on a night bus and wake up in Miri. As we were contemplating it we saw a hotel no more than 4 yards from the station so we enquired about price, it was reasonable and around here there appeared to be alot of food places etc. Decision made. Checked in, it's probably the best place we have been for ages. Went to the nearby supermarket where we were stared at and at one point I saw some checkout kids laughing at Charlotte, I was angry and so so close to asking what they found funny but I held back, just. Found a nice cafe with wifi so sat out on the balcony and ate mushroom soup with really good bits of garlic bread and then had Nonya fish curry, I think it was ok it had fruit in it but very little fish although it was creamy like a real curry. Watched most of Talented Mr Ripley in the room and then went to sleep.
I won at Russian roulette, or at least the bullet got stuck in the chamber.
