We started the day in dry savannah grassland and 50km later we were in the wet tropics. It was as quick as that. We were surrounded by lush tropical vegetation.
We travelled over the Daintry river by ferry and drove on to Cape Tribulation through what was now dense rain forest. We drove to the Cae Tribulation campsite and parked our van 30 metres from yet another pristine beach. This one lived up to the cape trib motto, "Where the Rainforest meets the Sea".
Within half an hour we had our first visitor. A kind of turkey with a bright yellow neck and a red head. Shame it's not Chrstmas. Chicken for tea again.
Later we saw the biggest stick insect I have ever seen. Chris said she once saw a bigger one in a zoo but I bet the display cabinet was magnified. This one was in the wild and was at least a foot long, not counting the legs. Guess what - It looked just like a stick A big stick.
