Mt Carbine
Entry 78 of 158 | show all | print this entry |
We are now in Mt Carbine at the best caravan park we have ever stayed in and only a$16 per night.
Before we got here we took a detour off the main highway to a place called Mallaa Mallaa, through the prettiest countryside we have seen outside England, full of Holstein dairy cattle , grazing on rolling hills and valleys and with a mountain backdrop. The trees were different than those at home, but, dare I say it, the sky was bluer and the countryside more colourful than at home.
We spent the evening listening to a 60 minute talk follwoed by a 90 minute guided walk in the very capable hands of our guide, Robert, the campsite manager. He was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the immediate area and the nearby mining industry. His knowledge of the flora and fauna was amazing. 120 minutes of his time totally free of charge and just the 2 of us to listen to him. Not a bad deal, Heh.
